The town was established by Karageorge Petrovic, the leader of the First Serbian Uprising and the founder of the royal dynasty<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"fa fa-check\"><\/i>Excursion starts at the hill <strong>Oplenac<\/strong>, the national memorial park where <em>The Church of St. George<\/em> stands in all its magnificence and beauty.<br \/>\nThe church is built in <em>Serbian-Byzantine style<\/em> (1910 \u2013 1930), as the foundation of the King Petre I who was the grandson of Karageorge. The interior decoration of the church is made in mosaic of 700 compositions that represent copies of the most beautiful frescoes from over 60 Serbian monasteries. The mosaic itself is made from more than 60 million glass cubes, while some of them are covered in gold. The Oplenac church is the crypt of 18 members of Karageorgevich dynasty.
