  • The history of Serbian winemaking is very long – it is assumed that grapes has been grown on this territory since the time of the Romans. Nowadays, on Serbian vineyards is both grown autochthonic and international grape varieties. Quality Serbian wines are mostly produced in small local wineries.
    This Wine Tour is made to guide visitors through tastes and history of the two most important wine-growing regions in Serbia – Župa of Aleksandovac on the slopes of Kopaonik MT (South Serbia), the small wine oasis, which preserved authentic Serbian varieties, and Srem Region (Northern Serbia), one of the oldest viticultural areas in Europe. Roman Emperor Probus of the ancient Sirmium, the capital of the Roman province of Pannonia, had planted first grapevines on the hills of Fruška Gora Mt.

     

  • Day 1

     

    Arrival to Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. Foreign-language tour guide will wait guests with a sign at International Flight Arrival Exit.
    Trip to Sremski Karlovci (Serbian cultural center in 18th and 19th century) straight from the airport: sightseeing of the downtown area, The Four Lions Fountain, the Orthodox Cathedral etc.
    Late lunch with wine degustation at the Winery Kiš – wine tasting of international wine varieties and local brands such as Portugieser (red wine) and Bermet (red and white dessert wines).
    Return to Belgrade, hotel accommodation, free time and overnight stay.

    Day 2

    Breakfast at the hotel.
    Tour to East Serbia through the valley of Danube passing the Danube Gorge, with short breaks for landscape photography.
    Visit to the Golubac Fortress and the Mesolithic archaeological site Lepenski vir (Lepen Whirl).
    Lunch and wine degustation at the Wine cellar Matalj: wine tasting of international wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and local wine brand Kremen and Rose Dušica.
    Hotel accommodation in Negotin, free time and overnight stay.

    Day 3

    Breakfast at the hotel.
    Trip to the town of Zaječar, visiting the National museum and the Archeological site Felix Romuliana (ruins of a huge Roman complex built in 298 AD).
    Cross over through the valleys of Aleksandrovac, Serbian well-known wine-growing region.
    Lunch and wine degustation at the Wine cellar Vinska kuća Minić or Wine cellar Ivanović: wine tasting of international varieties and autochthonous varieties Rskavac (red wine) and Tamjanika (white wine).
    Trip to health resort Vrnjačka Banja, hotel accommodation, free time and overnight stay.

    Day 4

    Breakfast at the hotel.
    Visit to the Lyubostinya Monastery (14th century).
    Lunch and degustation at the Wine cellar Radovanović in Krnjevo Village: wine tasting of international wine varieties and private wine brand of Cabernet Sauvignon.
    Return to Belgrade, hotel accommodation, free time and overnight stay.

    Day 5

    Breakfast at the hotel.
    Belgrade city tour: St. Sava’s Temple, St. Mark’s Church, the historical sights of city center – Trg Republike (The Republic Square), pedestrian and shopping zone Knez Mihailova (Prince Michael Street), Kalemegdan Fortress;  drive through the prestigious residential and diplomatic urban neighborhood of Dedinje and Novi Beograd, the new financial center of Belgrade.
    Belgrade tour will continue straight to the Nikola Tesla Airport.
    Notes
    Wine tasting will be organized with lunch or dinner depending on the group arrival to the wine cellars.
